This blog was inspired by a dear client, who asked me for some lullabies to sing to her baby. I know there have been many times when I wanted to sing and couldn’t think of anything other than “twinkle twinkle little star,” so I had fun compiling this list! I hope you enjoy it too. Happy humming.
ABCs and Baa Baa Black Sheep — same tune as Twinkle Twinkle, so you can sing them one after another
La La Lu (from Lady & the Tramp)
La la lu, la la lu
Oh my little star sweeper
I’ll sweep the stardust for you
La la lu, la la lu
Little soft fluffy sleeper
Here comes a pink cloud for you
La la lu, la la lu
Little wandering angel
Fold up your wings, close your eyes
La la lu, la la lu
And may love be your keeper
La la lu, la la lu, la la lu
A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes (from Cinderella)
nice to sway with this one
A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you’re fast asleep
In dreams you will lose your heartache
Whatever you wish for, you keep
Have faith in your dreams and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling through
No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing
The dream that you wish will come true
Edelweiss (from Sound of Music)
Edelweiss, edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white, clean and bright
You look happy to meet me
Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever
Edelweiss, edelweiss
Bless my homeland forever
Till There Was You (Beatles)
There were bells on a hill, but I never heard them ringing
No, I never heard them at all
Till there was you
There were birds in the sky, but I never saw them winging
No, I never saw them at all
Till there was you
And there was music, and wonderful roses – they tell me
In sweet, fragrant meadows of dawn, and dew
There was love all around, but I never heard it singing
No, I never heard it at all
Till there was you
Till there was you
Goodnight (Beatles)
Now it’s time to say good night,
Good night, sleep tight.
Now the sun turns out his light,
Good night, sleep tight.
Dream sweet dreams for me,
Dream sweet dreams for you,
Close your eyes and I’ll close mine,
Good night, sleep tight.
Now the moon begins to shine,
Good night, sleep tight.
Dream sweet dreams for me,
Dream sweet dreams for you.
Close your eyes and I’ll close mine,
Good night, sleep tight.
Now the sun turns out his light,
Good night, sleep tight.
Dream sweet dreams for me,
Dream sweet dreams for you.
Good night,
Good night, everybody,
Everybody, everywhere,
Good night.
Five Sleepy Heads (Elvis)
There were five sleepy heads
All tucked in to their beds
While I sang a lullaby
One got dream dust in her eye
There were four sleepyheads
Playing possum with me
Mr. Sandman came by, and then there were three
Moonbeams play peek-a-boo
Three awake became two
And my song was almost done when the Land of Nod took one
Kissed the last one goodnight
Then I heard not a peep
There were five sleepyheads
Now they’re all fast asleep
